Every record in this directory is a real company, and every published figure is cited to the brand’s own site on the date it was last reviewed. Where a fact could not be established from the brand’s own pages, it is marked unknown rather than guessed.

Sourcing

Methodology

A directory that reports measurements has to say where the measurements came from, and where they do not exist.

Every value carries its basis
No figure is stored as a bare number. Each one records whether the brand published it on its own site, or whether we inferred it from published data and on what reasoning, and unknown values stay structurally unknown rather than defaulting to a negative answer. Every published figure names the page it came from and the date that page was read.
What gets recorded
Petite approach, size range, shortest and longest published inseam, measurement practice, category strengths, shipping regions, return terms, and an inferred alteration likelihood. Nineteen fields per record, which is what the completeness figure counts.
What does not get claimed
Nothing here asserts that a garment was worn, tested or reviewed. Where a figure is not published, the entry says so and explains why. It is never estimated, inferred from a size label, or copied from a comparable brand.
What counts as a source
Only the brand’s own current pages: its size guide, its garment measurement tables, its returns and shipping terms. Search snippets, blogs, forums, social posts, marketplaces and aggregators are rejected outright by validation, not merely discouraged: they are second-hand, and none of them is the brand committing to a figure.
Every record is dated
A record carries the date a human last read its cited pages. Size ranges and inseams change between seasons, so a figure over a year old is shown with a warning, and one over two years old is not allowed to render as current at all.
Outbound links are references, not placements
A link to a brand exists so you can check a figure at its source. There are no affiliate relationships behind them, no commission, and no tracking: tracking and affiliate parameters are stripped before a link is rendered and rejected when a record is written. Every outbound link names its destination and says that it opens elsewhere.
How inclusion works
No brand pays for inclusion and no entry is a paid placement. Inclusion is decided by whether a brand publishes enough to be recorded honestly, which is a different question from whether it is any good.
Why the entries are archetypes today
Real records are held to all of the above, and the sourcing attempt behind this phase did not produce 20 of them: most brand pages could not be retrieved at all, and of those that could, none published a brand-level inseam that could be cited without generalising from a single product. Rather than lower the standard to fill a page, the directory renders labelled archetypes and says so. The rules above are enforced in code and tested; what is missing is the research.
