Specification

The core pieces

Each slot carries the published measurement that makes it work on a shorter frame.

  1. Unstructured overcoat

Published back length 38″ or under, so the hem clears mid-calf.

  2. Fine-gauge crew knit

Body length 22″–23″ keeps the waistband visible.

  3. Cotton shirt

Worn open as a layer or under the knit with the collar out.

  4. High-rise straight trouser

26″ inseam breaks at the ankle bone.

  5. Wide-leg trouser

28″ inseam, wide legs need the extra inch to hang.

5 of 10 pieces are specified here. The remaining slots, a shopping sequence and a written outfit grid for this specific capsule are not published yet, and nothing has been omitted to imply otherwise. The Capsule Builder below will generate a comparable plan with substitutions and outfit formulas from a brief, which is a different thing from this capsule fully written up, and worth having in the meantime.

This capsule was edited piece by piece. The builder starts from a brief and returns a plan of garment roles with the measurements to shop them by, a different tool for a different moment.

Background

Reading that supports this capsule

  • An outfit divided by one horizontal rule at the waist. The knit above the line is drawn plain, while the trouser below it carries a heavy inside-leg line, a measuring bracket and a dashed hem rule.
    Petite Fit

Petite on the Bottom, Regular on Top

Half-and-half is the most under-used strategy in petite shopping, and for once the size charts are on its side. Which published sizing actually supports mixing, and where it breaks.

  • A ruled stocktake sheet divided into six cells, five holding drawn garments and the sixth left empty with a thin circle marking the empty space.

Where the Petite Categories Actually Are

Ten ranges publish petite dresses. Five publish outerwear. Not one publishes shoes. The category coverage map of the researched directory, and how to use it before you search.
